AW16’S ONES TO WATCH WINNER EDDA GRADUATED FROM LONDON COLLEGE OF FASHION AND HAS BEEN NAMED BY THE NEW YORK TIMES AS ONE OF TEN “FRESH OUT OF FASHION SCHOOL DESIGNERS TO WATCH,” DESIGNER EDDA DESCRIBES HERSELF AS “FASCINATED BY TEXTILES.” HER AW16 GRADUATE COLLECTION IS STRONGLY INFLUENCED BY EDDA’S LOVE FOR TEXTILES IN A VARIETY OF STYLES. THE NORWEGIAN DESIGNER COMBINES VARIOUS ELEMENTS TO HER COLLECTION FROM HEAVILY EMBELLISHED PINK KNITWEAR TO BOLD BLACK AND WHITE HAND-DRAWN PRINTS WITH AN ELEMENT OF FUR.

HER ECLECTIC AESTHETIC COMBINES KNIT, PRINT AND EMBROIDERY IN A STUNNING GRAPHIC MONOCHROME COLLECTION. THESE SIMPLY CUT GARMENTS ARE PAIRED WITH OVERSIZED HATS,GLOVES AND PLATFORM SANDALS. ALL THE PRINTS THROUGHOUT THIS COLLECTION THAT WERE HAND DRAWN BY THE DESIGNER TO CREATE A CHILD-LIKE AESTHETIC; THE DRAWINGS WERE LATER DIGITALLY PRINTED ONTO CANVAS IN BLACK AND WHITE, WHICH THEN BECAME GARMENTS IN THE COLLECTION. THE THREAD THROUGHOUT HER WORK IS THIS IDEA OF REWORKING A MEMORY AND GIVING IT A NEW LEASE OF LIFE, WHEN CREATING HER PRINTS EDDA WORKED WITH OLD PHOTOGRAPHS FROM THE 1930’S OF LADIES DRESSED IN THEIR SUNDAY BEST AS A KEY SOURCE OF HER INSPIRATION.

FOR SUCH A YOUNG DESIGNER EDDA HAS MANAGED TO SECURE LOTS OF PRESTIGIOUS AWARDS INCLUDING THE INTERNATIONAL FUR FEDERATIONS REMIX AWARD IN CONJUNCTION WITH ITALIAN VOGUE THAT HAS SEEN PREVIOUS WINNERS SUCH AS ASTRID ANDERSEN AND SHOHEI OHASHI AS WINNERS OF THE PRIZE, SHE HAS ALSO MANAGED TO SECURE THE BFTA, SAGA FUR COMPETITION AWARD. EDDA ALSO RECENTLY WON THE DESIGNER FOR TOMORROW IN BERLIN, THE AWARD’S PATRON THIS YEAR WAS ALBER ELBAZ THAT PERSONALLY PICKED THE BRAND AS HIS PERSONAL FAVOURITE.

THE BRAND HAS ALREADY BEEN FEATURED IN THE LIKES OF VOGUE UK, VOGUE ITALIA, GLAMOUR AND WGSN TO NAME A FEW AND HAS BEEN POPULAR WITH THE PRESS.
