ANYA MAROKKO SETS OUT TO ADAPT CHIC SILK SEPARATES FOR EVERYDAY WEAR AND REDEFINE WOMEN’S APPROACH TO DRESSING.

DRAPING IS AT THE CORE OF THE DESIGN PROCESS. EMBRACING THE FLUIDITY OF SILK, THE DESIGNS AIM TO FOLLOW THE NATURAL MOVEMENT OF THE BODY. WITH METICULOUS ATTENTION TO DETAIL IN THE CUT AND FINISHING OF THE GARMENTS, THE SENSUAL DESIGN EXPERIMENTS WITH SHAPES, TEXTURES AND PRINT.

ALWAYS ARTISTICALLY MINDED, ANYA HAS NOT TAKEN THE TRADITIONAL PATH IN FASHION. A DAUGHTER OF A DRESSMAKER MUM, ANYA GREW UP SURROUNDED BY FABRICS AND STARTED DRAPING HER OWN DESIGNS AT A YOUNG AGE. ALONGSIDE HER DEGREE IN ECONOMICS AT CAMBRIDGE AND A STINT IN INVESTMENT BANKING SHE HAS PURSUED HER PASSION FOR DESIGNING CLOTHES AND HAS STARTED THE LABEL.

THE FIRST COLLECTION OF SILK BLOUSES, LAUNCHED IN 2015, STARTED AS A STUDY OF THE DRAPE AND FEMALE FORM. DRAWING INSPIRATION FROM THE 1930S, THE DESIGN REINTERPRETS TRADITIONAL CUTS OF THE ERA IN A CONTEMPORARY SILHOUETTE. SWATHES OF SILK AROUND THE BODY CREATE A SCULPTURAL DRAPE, WHILE THE BLACK AND WHITE PRINT ACCENTUATES THE ART DECO AESTHETIC.

FOLLOWING A SUCCESSFUL POP-UP IN LONDON AND A LAUNCH OF AN ONLINE SHOP, ANYA WILL BE PRESENTING HER EXTENDED AUTUMN-WINTER 2016 RANGE AT FASHION SCOUT.
