GRADUATE OF LONDON COLlEGE OF FASHION JOANNA BERLING HAS SOARED TO DIZZYING HEIGHTS WITH HER EXPLORATION OF THE INTERSECTION BETWEEN BEAUTY AND BAD TASTE. HER FINAL COLLECTION, PRESENTED IN JUNE 2016, GAINED WIDE RECOGNITION IN THE EYES OF CRITICS AND REPRESENTATIVES OF THE INDUSTRY AND HAS BEEN NAMED AS ONE OF THE HIGHLIGHTS OF THE LONDON COLLEGE OF FASHION BA GRADUATE SHOW BY DAZED AND CONFUSED.  

REFERENCING THE SCULPTURE OF BERLINDE DE BRUCKYERE, BERLING STRETCHES THE LIMITS OF AESTHETIC ACCEPTABILITY, JUXTAPOSING SACCHARINE GIRLISHNESS WITH AN UNDERCURRENT OF GROTESQUE DARKNESS. HER WORK IS  SHAPED BY HER UNDERSTANDING OF GOOD AND BAD TASTE GROWING UP IN POLAND SHORTLY AFTER THE POST-COMMUNIST TRANSFORMATION.

BERLING'S DEBUT IN THE FASHION WORLD WAS MET WITH GREAT SUCCESS, HER PIECES BEING WORN BY PETITE MELLER, CONNIE CONSTANCE, NOGA EREZ AND LADY GAGA, AS WELL AS BEING FEATURED IN VOGUE RUNWAY, DAZED & CONFUSED, THE EVENING STANDARD, KING KONG, WONDERLAND AND HUNGER.

IN SEPTEMBER 2017 JOANNA BERLING WILL START HER MA IN FASHION AT THE ROYAL COLLEGE OF ART.

JOANNA BERLING HAS BEEN AWARDED FASHION SCOUT'S COVETED "ONES TO WATCH" AWARD FOR AW17. SHE WILL RECEIVE A SPONSORED COLLABORATIVE CATWALK FOR AW17 ALONGSIDE THE OTHER RECIPIENTS, SUPPORTED BY FASHION SCOUT DURING LONDON FASHION WEEK.
