Last season brought us a continuation of the adored aesthetic of the collection ‘Judgement of Paris’. This season Eugene Lin presented to Freemason’s Hall his SS14 collection entitled ‘Valkyrie’. Inspired by Norse mythology, Eugene created a collection that presents women as a powerful tribe with a beautiful exterior yet is intensely formidable.

Loud digital prints and embellishments were the primary aspect of Eugene’s SS13 collection, however this year the Central Saint Martins student has created a collection that is devoid of all that we have seen previously.

A deluxe and clean-cut aesthetic, impeccably tailored separates, and sculpted dresses prove that as a label Eugene Lin consistently produces creativity with function.

Worsted wool folds and fine wool crepe creases demonstrate an experimentation with altering silhouettes.

Feather prints and textured cuffs add to the tribal element that the ‘Valkyrie’ inspired and a matte colour palette juxtaposes with patent shoes and unique coatings adding a primitive fresh and wet look.

Eugene Lin’s creations were compelling on the catwalk.
