CASSEY GAN’S DAVID HOCKNEY INSPIRED SS19 COLLECTION
Cassey spent 4 years studying in London, UK and graduated with a BA first class honours in fashion design & technology: womenswear from London College of Fashion in 2012. Her graduate collection was 1 of 25 collections selected by lcf for its external press show. Vogue Italia later featured her in their global edition of “discovering fashion’s future generation of talents.” She was 1 of 34 graduates from the UK to be talent-spotted in this magazine.
“It feels amazing to be showcasing in London, because I studied at London College of Fashion, so it’s always been my dream to come back”, said Cassey.
The timeless yet modern collection fused comfort and style with an innovative mix of fabrics and non-formfitting silhouettes.

“MY EXPERIENCE WITH FASHION SCOUT HAS BEEN REALLY REALLY GOOD, RIGHT FROM THE BEGINNING. REALLY PROFESSIONAL AND EVERYONE KNOWS WHAT THEY’RE DOING. I’D LOVE TO COME BACK!”
Inspired by David Hockney, Cassey says “I really wanted to drizzle all of his work, his colours, his strokes, all across the collection because I love his work.” The inspiration was clear in the collection, with brightly coloured prints.
With slicked back hair and natural makeup, the clothes were the sole focus of the show. Multi-dimensional garments were created through the use of layered fabric. Different textures and prints created an interesting and innovative aesthetic, that further enhanced the print.
The wearable pieces ranged from pleated skirts, to wide cropped trousers, wrap shirts, to metallic skirts and oversized printed bags to full sleeved dresses.
Cassey says, “I’m really happy with how it looks as a collection.”
