Our SS18 Merit Award winner, Edda Gimnes with her eponymous Womenswear label EDDA has been shortlisted for the LVMH Prize. Gimnes larger-than-life aesthetic got her a fully sponsored presentation during London Fashion Week, also ensuring that she got named by the New York Times as one of ten “fresh out of fashion school designers to watch”.  We have every confidence in her winning this award and with such an amazing collection to her name it is no surprise she has already come so far.

For such a young designer, Gimnes has already managed to secure a lot of prestigious awards. One being the International Fur Federations remix award in conjunction with Italian Vogue. Also securing the BFTA Saga Fur Completion award and winning the Designer For Tomorrow in Berlin, having Alber Elbaz personally pick her brand as his ‘personal favourite’.  Grimes also gained fabulous coverage having been featured in Vogue UK, Vogue Italia and Glamour to name a few.

With more than 1,300 applicants from over 90 countries around the world, we are please to say that EDDA has been listed as one of the 20 designers shortlisted for the semi final. With the opportunity to win the LVMH prize 2018 for Young Fashion Designers. Those shortlisted will be invited to meet 48 international fashion experts who will then narrow it down to 8 finalists during a showroom presentation that will be held on the 1st and 2nd of March in Paris.

Most recently we saw EDDA win at the Costume Norge Awards, winning the Costume Award for Norwegian Designer of the Year. The likes of Gigi Hadid was spotted in Harpers Bazaar us and Lady Gaga was seen supporting Gimnes Designs.  She has been mentioned in Vogue US and attended a dinner at the Norwegian Royal Palace, it is clear international interest has been gained. We are fully supporting Gimnes on her potential win, and we are following her closely to see what will happen next.
