Fashion Scout is proud to congratulate Edda Gimnes, the Norwegian Womenswear designer, and her label “EDDA” on her win at the Costume Norge Awards last night, hosted at Oslo, Norway. EDDA won the Costume Award for Norwegian Designer of the Year. It comes as no surprise that she won, with her larger-than-life aesthetic and fascination for colour and texture.

Taking inspiration from 1950s silhouettes, sports-luxe and feminine glamour combined with the use of amazing surface decoration, Edda brings an element of uniqueness to every garment that she creates.  Using a sophisticated colour palette of mustards, light pink, blue and greys throughout her pieces, Edda’s use of artistic combinations makes her a truly pioneering designer. Edda’s SS18 collection was made up colourful printed handbags, headbands and thigh-high printed boots showcasing the illustrative feel that is represented across all aspects of her design.

Edda Gimnes was the recipient of our SS18 Merit Award, winning with her eponymous label EDDA. Gimnes holds a Bachelor’s degree in clothing design from London College of Fashion. Fashion Scout has hosted her work for several seasons and we have watched the label win many awards around the world, this being another one to add to her fabulous profile.

Martyn Roberts, describes her work as “innovative and pioneering” one that holds a “unique and exciting signature.”

Late September 2017, Gigi Hadid was spotted in Harpers Bazaar US, wearing a mustard yellow jacket designed by Gimnes as part of her SS18 collection, titled “Kuneska”. In December, Lady Gaga was seen supporting Gimnes Design. Having already gained recognition for her designs and being, one of ten, New York Times Magazine named Edda a “Fresh out of Fashion School Designers to Watch”. It is fair to say we are all watching and waiting to see where this amazing emerging label will go!
