We’ve just wrapped up a third season of Fashion Scout South East Europe — a first of its kind in the region — is a contest that involves designers from Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Macedonia.
15 emerging designers from the region had the opportunity to present their collections to an international judging panel during Ljubljana Fashion Week. We’re pleased to announce that Serbian designer Gala Borovic has been awarded the first prize.
The judging panel was made up of Martyn Roberts, founder of Fashion Scout and Managing Director at Graduate Fashion Week, Biljana Poposka-Roberts, Special Projects Manager at Fashion Scout and GFW, Lewis Robert Cameron, Fashion Stylist (Kaltblut Magazine, Fucking Young, Pansy Magazine, Kaltblut Magazine, Vogue Italia), Gili Biegun, Editor-in-chief at Joys Magazine and Giorgia Cantarini, Vogue Italia contributor.
Exploring the thin line between fashion and art, Gala’s collection is heavily influenced by personal chaos, misbalance and, asymmetry. “Living in the era of political, social and cultural anxieties, her ambition is to create emotional fashion as a reaction to the remoteness of contemporary society.”
Runner up prize was awarded to SestreS, a sister duo from Belgrade who have been creating clothing since 2006, while Mirjana Jasifoska from northern Macedonia and Dejan Petrovic from Slovenia were highly commended for their collections. Congratulations to all the winners and those who participated in another fantastic season of Fashion Scout SEE!
