On the final day of Fashion Scout during London Fashion Week we have had the Graduate Showcase take place in the Vestibule. Nine graduate designers displayed some items from their graduate collections from 10:00 – 17:00 for everyone to come and see. The designers were: Shagun Chauhan, Maddy Stringer, Rebecca Wilson, Leanne Callon, Alice Jardesten, Jacaranda Brain, Danqi Chen, Aurelie Fontan and Elfreda Fakoya.

Maddy Stringer, one of the designers said “I’m really excited about the showcase today. It’s a really good opportunity to show my work and speak to people and make some contacts, so yeah, I’m really happy to be here.”

Collections ranging from Victorian inspired garments to three primary coloured looks, graced the hall and the variety of talent was impressive. Rebecca Wilson, the Christopher Bailey Gold Award Winner said of showcasing in London, “it feels really cool! Obviously, there was graduate fashion week and that was a huge success, it was amazing, so hopefully it will be a great success again! But yeah, incredible.”

One designer, Leanne Callon created a gender fluid collection, describing her inspiration she said, “During my BA collection I was really interested in, and did my dissertation on, the relationship between people and their domestic space and their collections and what people choose to display and pride within their own homes. So, it stemmed from that. I recycled the rugs, upcycled them, cleaned them, revamped them, embroidered them. And then all of the drapery is like an imitation of old fashioned curtain drapery. It’s a gender fluid collection – feminine fabrics in masculine silhouettes.”

The diverse collections welcomed an array of guests all eager to see what the graduates had in store and they did not disappoint.
