This season’s prestigious Merit Award went to recent University of Westminster graduate, Katie Ann McGuigan. Having gained experience working at McQ in London and Marc Jacobs in New York, the talented young designer turned heads at the Merit Award selection panel with her excellent attention to detail and technical knowledge.

Heavily influenced by art, Katie’s debut collection featured strong modern silhouettes paired with a vivid red and sand palette. Oversized outwear was decorated with intricate prints, enhancing the carefully curated garment structure.

Featuring a multitude of highly technical skills, all executed with innate amounts of detail, Katie Ann McGuigan presented vinyl laser cut coats with ink printed sleeves. Textures were also predominant theme with soft lambs leather contrasted against rough knitted sweaters.

A technically interesting and visually appealing collection, it's clear that Katie Ann McGuigan has a lot to offer and Fashion Scout looks forward to seeing her back at Freemason's Hall next season.
