The Inter-National Institute of Fashion Design (INIFD) in association with The London School of Trends returns to Fashion Scout for a 3rd season, showing this year's SS18 collections. INIFD features 24 student designers from across India, taking part in two different shows. The first show was presented Saturday the 16th, while the second part was held on the final day of Fashion Scout's SS18 shows. This show titles "The New Rashtra" (Rashtra meaning nation) is a showcase of the traditional Indian methods of design and craft with modern fabrics and silhouettes.
The show opened with a garment that featured black knee length trousers, and black top both decorated all over with dainty traditional floral embroidery patterns. In the following outfits we saw dresses made from light materials of pinks, baby blues, yellows, and greens. One dress in particular was an off the shoulder, pink floor length dress. With a bright blue panel on the front from the waist down, the skirt and back of this dress was detailed with small white shells.
This show featured many dresses, tops, and trousers with traditional patterns, embelishments and details. The modern take on these materials and embroidery created a show full of Indian craft, with a twist. The colourful and intricate collection of garments was met with a excitement and high energy from the crowd.
