AW16 One’s To Watch winner EDDA returns to Fashion Scout with her SS18 collection titled “Kuneska”. Held in Fashion Scouts presentation space, the audience was blown away by not only the models and their overall theatrical presentation, but by the distinctive and playful designs. Inspired by 1950s silhouettes, and feminine elements of sports-luxe, this collection brought out EDDA’s signature aesthetic.

The sophisticated colour palette included mustard, light pink, blue, and grey. The playful shapes of 50s’ dresses made from contrasting fabrics created an overall sense of unity throughout the designs.

EDDA’s initial approach to her SS18 collection was to cut the garments in a way that enhances the illustrations. Circular patterns on the light blue and olive dresses resembled snakeskin, while a large brimmed hat printed with the artist's recurring pattern brought the illustrations to life.

Along with the glamourous dresses that were paraded around the presentation space, models were featured in a pink sport-luxe track suit, and a blue boxy tailored jacket. Paired with the larger-than-life designs, models were adorned with colourfully printed handbags, large belts, headbands, and a pair of thigh high printed boots.

EDDA is this season's Merit Award winner, and one of ten New York Times’ “Fresh out of Fashion School Designers to Watch” which meant the pressure for the young designer to build as a brand was. EDDA’s SS18 collection was not only a highly anticipated presentation to watch, but held an exciting and sophisticated atmosphere as we watched what she would come up with next.
