POINT BLANK IS A DESIGN COLLECTIVE THAT CREATES MULTIDISCIPLINARY AND EXPERIMENTAL PROJECTS. TOGETHER FASHION DESIGNER YANYU CHUNG  AND ARCHITECTURAL DESIGNER ADRIENNE LAU WORK AS A DUO. THE DESIGN PROCESS OF POINT BLANK IS A MESSY EXPLORATION IN ART, ARCHITECTURE, FASHION, FILM, (SUB)CULTURE AND TASTE.

IT IS A FASHION LABEL IN THE SENSE THAT EACH PROJECT CONSISTS OF A READY-TO-WEAR COLLECTION FOR THE SEASON AND AN INFRASTRUCTURE IS IN PLACE TO PRODUCE HIGH-QUALITY PIECES FOR CLIENTS. HOWEVER, WHAT THE COLLECTIVE DOES AND IS PASSIONATE IN IS DOING FASHION AND BEYOND.

IN THEIR PAST 2 COLLECTIONS THEY HAVE EXPERIMENTED WITH THE CLASHING OF STYLES AND AESTHETICS IN CLOTHING IN TERMS OF SILHOUETTES, MATERIALS AND TEXTURES – TAKING WHAT IS SYMBOLIC OF BOTH LUXURY WEAR AND STREET WEAR, BLENDING THEM IN WAYS THAT REJECTS ANY CONVENTIONS.

THE FASHION PRESENTATION IS ALWAYS THE CENTRAL PIECE OF THEIR PROJECTS. IN THE PAST TWO SEASONS, SPECIAL SETS AND INSTALLATIONS WERE CREATED TO GO ALONG SIDE THE PRESENTATION OF THE COLLECTION. THE SET IS ALWAYS MULTI-LAYERED WITH THE USE OF MANY DIFFERENT MEDIAS, CREATING A 3-DIMENSIONAL EXPERIENCE FOR VIEWERS. WALLPAPER COLLAGES, FILM PROJECTIONS, ALTERING SENSES WITH MUSIC, MODEL’S ROLE PLAY, SPINNING MINIATURE MARTIAN LANDSCAPE ON A TABLE, ETC, SHOWS THE EXTENT AND POSSIBILITIES OF EXPERIMENTATION IN POINT BLANK PROJECTS.
