Ada Zanditon is the couture brand loved and worn by Ariana Grande, Mariah Carey, Aisling Bea and many more, for it's luxurious tendencies and socially conscious individuality. Upon learning that pink has recently been discovered as the worlds oldest colour, with pigments found behind the Sahara desert, Zanditon is creating a collection that explores ancient environmental history, and the journey that the earth has taken from pre-humanity and into the imagined future, for SS19.

In 2015, Zanditon was commissioned by Selfridges, London, to produce one of their world renowned Christmas window displays, and featured in the stores Christmas campaign film, 'Journey to the Stars'. We caught up about with the designer ahead of her Fashion Scout SS19 show, about embracing diversity and inclusivity but rebuffing tokenism, embodying the principles that they believe should be an industry standard, and how to world has shaped their view. 


What has inspired your Spring Summer 2019 collection?

Our collection is inspired by the recent scientific discovery that bright pink is the oldest colour, the board game Candy Land and the merging of physical life into the digital and virtual realm.


How do you stay inspired?

It is more challenging to be uninspired, to be mindful of the digital information overload that is now constant.

What themes and concepts are you exploring this season?

What was life was like in the ancient oceans, what did the first life on earth look like? What will digital life look like in the future - how is humanity merging into the digital and virtual and also vice versa.


Themes of sustainability, diversity and inclusivity are permeating the industry. What changes would you like to make through your work?

We want every individual who wears Ada Zanditon Couture to feel emboldened and be adorned with design, that empowers their ability to express the spirit of who they truly are and feel confident. It is not about everyday, functional or practical clothing. Our couture is ornate warrior deity armour for the most extraordinary moments of life where we are not constrained by banality but are free to explore the connection between our body and soul.

The emphasis is on celebrating who we are inside and outside without conforming and the connection between them that makes us who we are no matter what size, gender or any other factor. 

We embrace diversity and inclusivity but not tokenism. Our pieces are either made to order for any size including sizes 18 + and the sample collection is made to be adjustable so it fits from a size 6 to a 16.  As a brand we embody those principles because we believe that should be the standard of contemporary luxury.


What shall we look out for at your SS19 show?

Our stunning handmade signature harnesses embellished with Preciosa crystals.


Where do you hope to be next season?
