FASHION SCOUT x INTERNATIONAL WOOLMARK PRIZE
Fashion Scout, the international showcase for fashion pioneers, is delighted to announce it has been appointed as an Official Nominating Body for the International Woolmark Prize. This prestigious appointment means that Fashion Scout has the responsibility for nominating one menswear and one womenswear brand from more than 30 countries spanning the whole of Europe - from Kazakhstan to Portugal. The nominated designers will be in with the chance of winning $100,000(AU), international press coverage and the opportunity to have their collection stocked in some of the world’s most important boutiques.
The International Woolmark Prize, originally launched in 1953 as an initiative of the International Wool Secretariat, made headlines when in 1954 the winners included a young Karl Lagerfeld and Yves Saint Laurent. Today, the award is a globally recognised showcase of design excellence using Australian Merino wool. Crossing borders and cultures to highlight emerging fashion talent in six regions, each regional winner is the recipient of financial rewards, and has the chance to showcase their brand during key fashion weeks across the world. Modern winners include London label Teatum Jones, Christian Wijnants (Belgium) and India’s Rahul Mishra, with each prestigious event garnering coverage from esteemed fashion press and journalists including Suzy Menkes, Sara Maino and Colin McDowell.
“THE INTERNATIONAL WOOLMARK PRIZE SHOWS THAT FASHION HAS NO GEOGRAPHICAL NOR CULTURAL BORDERS, UNITING EMERGING LABELS FROM ALL CORNERS OF THE GLOBE. WE ARE PLEASED TO WELCOME FASHION SCOUT ON BOARD, ASSISTING IN THE DISCOVERY OF DESIGN TALENT FROM EUROPEAN COUNTRIES INCLUDING ICELAND, LATVIA AND THE UKRAINE AS WE REDEFINE FASHION AND SHAPE THE FUTURE OF THE INDUSTRY.”
