Fashion Scout's Merit Award: Wen Pan's Broken Beauty
The SS20 show evoked a summer in the countryside. The runway was framed by dried field flowers that were also carried by the models. The clothes were shredded, but systematically layered, highlighting the beauty of brokenness. The hair was ruffled as if it was the result of a day spent running wild in corn fields. In terms of colour, the designer used cream shades and sparks of blue over floral or checkered prints.
The Brand uses raw fluidity and textured layers to portray a ‘Poetic Resistance’ that is found in Chinese aesthetics. The design journey started from human traces and ended with deconstructed pieces which translate the movement from brokenness to delicacy. Wen Pan finds quietness in chaos and celebrates the attractiveness of imperfections.
