Fashion Scout’s Ones To Watch provides a unique platform for the brightest new designers, with many going on to become established labels in the international fashion industry.
Created in 2014, this collaborative show is now in its 9th Season and continues to be one of the most anticipated shows during LFW. Ones to Watch is instrumental in raising the profile of emerging design on a global scale. Previous winners include; Eudon Choi, Georgia Hardinge, Phoebe English, Helen Lawrence, EDDA and Typical Freaks, alongside AW17 winners Joanna Berling, Krasimira Stoyneva, Orange Culture and RU.
In the past year NEO design has been awarded multiple prizes including Fashion Scout South.East.Europe Award, that brought an opportunity to present the ATEHNEO collection during this LFW on the One the Watch platform. NEO design also qualified as an 2017 European finalist in The Woolmark prize, one of the biggest fashion competitions in the world. Upon winning the place to show as part of SS18 Ones To Watch, NEO Design excalimed:
“I was so excited to win the One To Watch award, it is a great honour to be “one of four” for this year and to have a chance to present my designs through the show at London Fashion Week. This award motivates me to go further and to test my boundaries, ideas and possibilities. That is why this is the most important thing that has happened to me this year.”
Fashion Scout founder and creative director, Martyn Roberts, commented on this season's selections:
“This season’s Ones to Watch truly demonstrates what the award was created to showcase. Our most international show to date, the diverse nature of cultures and styles exhibited by our winners for this season will come together as the highlight of the S/S18 Schedule.”
With bold colours, silhouettes and ideas, Ji Won Choi focuses on investigating social issues in an exciting way. EXCESSIVISM highlights the amount of excessive waste in the closets studied around the world. Sustainability is a key driving force in the brand, seeking to break the stigma of traditional sustainable fashion. Every collection is seasonless and genderless with a lively aesthetic, seeking to make sustainability in fashion the standard.
Ji Won Choi said on winning a Ones To Watch award
"As an emerging designer and brand, it is extremely encouraging to have so much support from Fashion Scout. Winning the Ones to Watch Award means a great deal, because it gives young designers a voice, and that's all I've wanted really-- to be heard. It's a grand privilege to be a part of this incredible platform and show. I am crazy excited to have this opportunity to present my debut collection."
The Starsica brand originates from the wise man character present in fantasy novels, often referred to as the "Star Seeker". The collection has a DNA originating from the philosophical concept of reason and phenomenon. It emphasises everyday wear seen through the lens of an anxious modern society. Starsica simultaneously exudes modern elegance whilst adopting an experimental approach, culminating in innovative design enhanced by beautiful attention to detail.
Triinu Pungits on winning the Ones To Watch award, explained that:
“Being able to showcase my collection during LFW is highly motivating and it gives me great ambition to utilise this opportunity to the fullest. It can be quite a challenge for an emerging designer to break through and show their work to a wider audience and therefore I will be forever grateful to Fashion Scout’s team for giving me this amazing and encouraging opportunity to be part of the Ones to Watch show.”
Fashion Scout looks forward to presenting the Ones to Watch show during London Fashion Week on Friday 15th September at 4.30pm in The Gallery Catwalk, Freemasons’ Hall, London.
