As expected, Rocky Star’s return to Freemasons Hall for his Autumn Winter 2018 collection was nothing short of sensational. Flaunting exceptional craftsmanship, superb attention to colour and tone, and exquisite contouring, Star reinvigorates his signature styles.

Indian-born Star has, in recent years, dressed the who’s who of Bollywood and Hollywood and styled and designed for over 300 films. From designing furniture, owning his own cocktail restaurant, and introducing his Pret collection RS by Rocky Star, Rocky is a multi-talented and world-renowned artist.

The Grand Temple was more than a fitting backdrop for the designer’s most luxurious collection yet, with Olivia Buckland closing the show in a phenomenally embellished, blue-grey mini dress. Set to high energy music, Star’s collection was a dizzying mix of elegance and electrifying theatricality.

Taking inspiration from his rich Indian heritage, Rocky’s collection is awash with deep purples, burgundies, and ocean blues with elaborate gold adornment hand sewn with meticulous detail. Buta printed knitwear, brown feathered accents and, fringed and beaded leather skirts juxtaposes this to cultivate an east-meets-west tone.

The silhouettes Star constructs are statuesquely feminine featuring figure hugging cut-out gowns, ethereal buta printed skirts, and structured silk trousers in iridescent blues and pinks. The collection ever so slightly pushes the boundaries of gender with slicked back hair, minimal jewellery, and traditionally masculine gold jackets with burgundy velvet accents.
