Fashion Scout was happy to hold the Merit and Ones to Watch Award selection panels for the upcoming Autumn Winter 19 season yesterday. In the main lounge of Hanbury Hall Café, designers from all over the world came to showcase their original and innovative garments. The traditional hall was filled with colourful and lavish apparel, changing its atmosphere into a couture spectacle. The experienced judges were presented with collections from established, emerging and international designers with the anticipation of being shortlisted for the renowned awards. They enjoyed over 40 collections and spent the day contemplating the future of fashion talent. 

With the broad knowledge and background, the judges panel represented different branches of fashion industry, essential to contemplate and appreciate the work of the national and international designers. This season’s panel consisted of; Managing and Creative Director Martyn Roberts, Constanza Lombardi, Next Gen Buyer at Browns, Kendall Robbins, Senior Programme Manager at British Council, Lizzy Bowring, Catwalk Director at WGSN and Scarlett Conlon, Deputy Fashion Editor at The Guardian.  Using their expertise, the judging panel spent hours looking through designs and portfolios to establish winners for the Merit Award and Ones To Watch Award titles for the coming season. 

The Merit Award is a new talent initiative created by Fashion Scout in 2009. The winner receives a full sponsored presentation during London Fashion Week and £20,000 cash prize. The award is designed to support and develop new designer business on a global level. Past winners include David Koma, Eudon Choi, Katie Ann McGuigan, EDDA and SS19 winner i-am-chen. 


Ones To Watch Award is available for four designers. The winners receive the opportunity to showcase on the catwalk during LFW, providing a unique platform for the brightest new designers to present their vision, with many going on to become established labels in the international fashion industry. Created in 2014, the collaborative show is now in it’s 11thSeason and continues to be one of the most anticipated shows during LFW. It is instrumental in rising the profile of emerging design on a global scale. Previous winners include: Georgia Hardinge, Phoebe English, Helen Lawrence, EDDA to name a few.

Fashion Scout is proud to be a catalyst for launch of many accomplished designers, such as Peter Polotto, Felder Felder, Eudon Choi, Pam Hogg, Xiao Li and Apu Jan. Fashion Scout contributes not only to the British talent, but also provides platform for industry selected international designers and collective showcases including those from China, Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, Middle East and Asia.
