SHOW INSIGHT: MALAN BRETON
There was anticipation in the air as the guests eagerly awaited Malan Breton's SS18 collection. As the astounding applause that accompanied the finale demonstrated, the large collection was received with great elation.
Breton's inspiration drew from the Edwardians and Victorian era, focusing on the magic darkness of this time and comic book villains. The SS18 collection, titled 'Hades in Darkness' derived from the designer’s roots, including inventive use of traditional Taiwanese patterns, used in both mens and women's collections. Classic tailoring and streamlined shapes lead one look beautifully into the next.
The stunning collection was compromised of a feather skirt, a sequin floor length gown and many other gowns. The classic yet innovative collection drew to a close with a dramatic final look, the illusion of wings was created by a train gliding behind the model.
The show was a sensory experience, as the lighting dimmed between each element of the show. Models boasting dark lips, rich and glossy curls and fresh skin, mirrored the climatic music. Malan himself was greeted by an adoring audience, and deafening applause.
