Chinese born, London based designer Youjia Jin revealed her SS18 womenswear collection for Fashion Scout during London Fashion Week. With a background in womenswear from Beijing Institute of Fashion and Technology, London College of Fashion and Central Saint Martins, Youjia Jin has created non-restrictive and versatile designs.

Showing her interest in human body structure, as well as creating designs that are high quality, this designer tends to feature models in workwear inspired tailoring. Paying close attention to pleats, hems, and structure, Youjia Jin reworks traditional women's tailoring into timeless and minimalist designs.

In this SS18 presentation, Youjia Jin brought us a collection of manipulated jackets, hems, and trousers, that brought a slight sense of destruction. Both male and female models danced to the eerie background music, while showing off the tassels, and strips of fabric ties that hung from the garments. The entire collection consisted of black, grey, khaki, and white longline garments.

The women wore khaki trench coats layered over cream and grey striped corset dresses, and pleated grey skirts. The men wore tailored suit jackets, that had an element of contrast with tulle ruffled edges. The hems were sloped, and the cuts were linear. Paired up with the performance, this presentation was a intimate and mysterious take on Youjia Jin’s SS18 collection.
