The highly anticipated, London Fashion Week is nearly upon us and whilst members of the fashion industry are busy with their final preparations it is down to the rest of us to organise our week’s schedule. London Fashion Week captures the finest creative talent and whether you are there in person or not, a lot can be gained from the inspirational events ahead. This year’s line-up is a combination of unmissable events that are sure to be remarkable for the industry.

Ones to Watch Collaborative Catwalk

The Ones to Watch award show will showcase the incredible talent that is on offer globally. If you would like to be one of the first to see the very best emerging designers in the UK and internationally, this catwalk showcase should not be missed. The three talented designers were chosen by a panel of experts including Fashion Scout’s founder and director, Martyn Roberts alongside a range of fashion editors, stylists and directors. Martyn Roberts has described the One to Watch award show as “the highlight of the SS19 schedule”.

The three brands that have received the Ones to Watch title and will be presenting at the catwalk show are Nous Etudions, Price on Request and Aucarre. Romina Cardillo is the designer behind the Argentine brand, Nous Etudions, whose work shows strong links to sustainability, veganism and non-gender traditions. Nous Etudions’ collection defies traditional tailoring norms with oversized silhouettes and textile experimentation. Price on Request is similar to Nous Etudions in the way that it is a multi-gender brand. The Croatian brand is considerate of today’s world and designs clothes that reflect it’s current state. The pieces promote individuality and a sense of self-worth. Unlike the two gender neutral brands, Aucarre focuses on female empowerment. The designs are intended to give women a voice and they aim to create stories and characters through their fabrication and aesthetic.

Merit Award Show

The Ones to Watch award gives the new, emerging designers a unique platform which will assist them in establishing their brands. A prime example of the success that can come from being chosen as the One to Watch is the brand, I-AM-CHEN. From being the winner of the One to Watch award in AW18, Zhi Chen has now been announced as this season’s winner of the coveted Merit Award.

The Hong Kong based brand, I-AM-CHEN is heavily influenced by the artist David Hockney. The playfulness of the knitwear pieces challenges the conformities of traditional knitwear whilst being incredibly detailed. The presentation of Zhi Chen’s colourful collection in the Merit Award showcase is an unmissable part of London Fashion Week’s line-up.

Katie Ann McGuigan

Alike Zhi Chen’s London Fashion Week success, the Merit Award winner for AW17, Katie Ann McGuigan will also be showcasing her collection on schedule at London Fashion Week. The London based womenswear brand’s high-end ready-to-wear collection will be showcased on home turf. Katie Ann McGuigan’s collection of print heavy pieces with modern and graphic silhouettes will inspire others and reflect her incredible talent.

These emerging designers as well as, the many others showcasing at the event, will be in great company at London Fashion Week, where their abilities will be celebrated. The collections being shown across London Fashion Week will all represent the skill and creativity of the world’s finest talents and the public’s access to this will inspire the masses and assure an exciting future for the fashion industry. The opportunity to see who the best emerging designers are, to be told who you should be keeping an eye on and to see who is going to go far is all widely available and it would be a shame to miss out on any of London Fashion Week’s goings on.
